Solid shampoo for colored hair?
Do solid shampoos work well for colored hair?
Yes! Of course
Our bar shampoos are soap-free, pH balanced and can be used on color-treated hair, meaning they won't damage your hair color.
Not all bar shampoos are created equal , its formulation changes from one to another and, although our shampoos do not contain soap, that does not mean that other solid shampoos on the market do. If you're not using a Naturlab shampoo bar, you'll need to check the ingredients to make sure the product is safe for color-treated hair.
What makes a solid shampoo suitable for colored hair?
Using shampoos with high-quality ingredients and a pH that is compatible with your hair's natural pH is the best way to keep your hair color vibrant for longer. The PH of human hair is slightly acidic, around 4.5-5.5. A pH-balanced, soap-free shampoo will not alter this acidic pH, allowing hair to remain healthy and cared for.
Soap-containing hair care products have a high pH and are therefore not suitable for hair, colored or not. The alkaline pH raises the cuticle, which can make the hair look rough and remove the pigments from your color sooner, which makes the hair lose color faster.
